Centering

Nurse Midwives are in the clinical setting, facilitating Centering sessions. In the hospital, nurse-midwives care for women throughout labor, deliver babies, order necessary medications and epidurals, assist in cesarean deliveries, and visit and examine women in the hospital after birth. If complications arise during a woman’s pregnancy or birth, we have immediate access to our physician colleagues for consultation regarding medical concerns or transfer to physician care if appropriate. Nurse-midwives work collaboratively with the physicians and nurses in our department to provide the safest and most supportive and family-centered care to our members.

If you would like to be cared for by a nurse-midwife in the hospital, please mention this to the nurse you see when you come to Labor and Delivery.
