Spring brings a sense of hope and renewal each year. With warm, sunny days ahead, it’s a great time to build new healthy habits. To get you inspired and motivated, we’re offering tips and services designed to encourage you every step of the way.

Fitness isn’t just about burning calories — it’s about improving your overall well-being. Being active everyday can help you:

  • Jumpstart your metabolism
  • Feel more energized
  • Control your appetite
  • Relieve stress
  • Enjoy better sleep
  • Lower your risk for conditions like heart disease and diabetes

To get started, aim to move 30 to 60 minutes a day, just 3 days a week. From there, build up to 5 or 6 days a week. You don’t need a gym membership or fancy equipment — everyday activities like housework or a walk around the neighborhood count as exercise.

And remember to count your steps with a fitness tracker, pedometer, or step-counting app. While the recommended goal is 10,000 steps a day, you can start at a lower number and increase your steps every week.

Most importantly, make sure you’re having fun! If traditional workouts aren’t for you, check out this list of activities for inspiration. You can also find an exercise buddy for great company and mutual support.

If you’re feeling a little intimidated, we offer health programs and classes to help you get started. You can even get a health coach to mentor you as you work toward your fitness goals. Call a coach at 1-866-862-4295.

As always, make sure to check with your doctor before you start a new fitness program. Once you’ve discussed the best options for you, get out there and enjoy the beautiful spring weather!
