Christina Chen, MS, LCGC

My Background

I am a Burmese, Chinese American born in New York and raised in Southern California.

Education & Experience

I attended the California Polytechnic University of Pomona where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences.  Afterwards, I earned my Cytogenetics Technologist license used to perform chromosome analysis and reporting for 6 years.  I transitioned my career into genetic counseling and earned my Master’s degree in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College.  After graduating, I worked as a pediatric genetic counselor at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for 2 years.  I am thrilled to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente genetic counselor team and grateful for the opportunity to serve our members.

About My Practice

I appreciate being able to expand my knowledge and skill set into various specialties at Kaiser Permanente yet utilize my previous experience as a cytogenetic technologist and pediatric genetic counselor.  I am fortunate to spend my time in various specialties which include preconception, prenatal, hereditary cancer, pediatric and adult genetics.  I enjoy keeping a balance between the challenges and rewards I learn from each of my patients and families.

How I Thrive

I enjoy reading thrilling and/or suspenseful novels, trying new foods, learning new recipes, traveling and making my friends and family laugh and smile!
