Our Genetic Counselors

Chad Brinkerhoff, MS, LCGC

My Background

While I do enjoy traveling, I have always called Southern California my home. Science and math were always my favorite subjects in school, and it wasn’t until my college days that I first learned of a career option which nicely joined the two subjects with a healthy dose of human interaction (I’m a people-person). The opportunity to transform complex genetic data into useful and helpful information for patients and their families drew me like a magnet to the field of genetic counseling.

Education & Experience

After graduating from California State Polytechnic University of Pomona with my Bachelor of Science degree in biology, I went on to earn my Master of Science degree in genetic counseling from the University of California, Irvine in 2011 at which time I started working at Kaiser Permanente.

About My Practice

I am a board certified and licensed genetic counselor working in the fields of cancer genetics and prenatal genetics. The best part of my job is when I have the opportunity to support my patients in the way they need -- empowering them to understand their genetic risk factors and form a plan that they feel works best for them and their family. I am very blessed to work at Kaiser Permanente where the common motivation for myself, my colleagues and our administration is that patient care comes first.
