Hospitals earning the 2015 America’s Best Stroke Centers Award must be certified by the Joint Commission/ASA as an Advanced Primary Care Stroke Center or an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center. The stroke center accreditation recognizes centers that meet high standards for stroke care as determined by the Joint Commission. In addition, publicly available data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and patient recommendation ratings data were included when assessing each hospital’s clinical performance.
The America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics scoring process is unique in that it is the ONLY national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction. Only the best hospitals selected provide obstetric services based on their exceptional scores for patient recommendation in HCAHPS surveys. Hospitals are then filtered to eliminate those with abnormal results for certain important clinical considerations, such as rates of infection or serious complications. The resulting list of over 300 award winners represents hospitals, including Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center, that women can feel confident in choosing for their maternity needs.
