Our Genetic Counselors

Etta D’Orazio, MS, LCGC

My Background

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles. From an early age, I felt drawn to a myriad of lifepaths, from writer to therapist to doctor, all with a common thread to support, inform, and influence my community for the better. On a fateful day in my senior year of college, I discovered the field of genetic counseling, which strives to help patients understand how family medical history and genetic conditions can impact their health, and all my career aspirations fell into place.

Education & Experience

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in Psychobiology. Following graduation, I worked as a phone crisis counselor at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services supporting callers in the midst of a mental health crisis. I completed my Master’s degree in genetic counseling at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). I had the pleasure of spending my summer clinical internship in genetic counseling at Kaiser Permanente’s Woodland Hills and Panorama City Medical Centers. After completing my studies, I was honored to join Kaiser’s Valley Genetics group. I am affiliated with the National Society of Genetic Counselors, certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling, and licensed by the State of California.

About My Practice

I currently work in the prenatal, cancer, and adult genetics settings. Practicing in multiple genetic counseling subspecialties allows me to address the complexities of my patients’ personal and family histories and be flexible to their unique counseling needs. I strive to establish a comfortable environment for my patients to come away from our visit feeling informed and supported.

How I Thrive

I enjoy spending my time weightlifting while listening to a good audiobook, frequenting SoCal’s museums, finding the perfect cup of boba milk tea, and having movie nights with my friends and family.
