Visitor Policy and COVID-19 Information
We have updated the visitation guidance for hospital and ambulatory settings based on the most recent public health order by the CDPH and includes a key change: Kaiser Permanente San Francisco patients may have visitors without restriction.
As of April 3, 2023, per a public health order issued by the City and County of San Francisco, patients and visitors are no longer required to mask. Masks are encouraged for visitors and patients upon entrance to the hospital and throughout the visit, especially if visiting a patient in a double room, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory-like illnesses. Per the order, health care workers are required to wear masks in patient care and public areas. Providers, staff, patients, and visitors must adhere to all self-symptom screenings prior to entering our facilities.
Inpatient Facilities
Patients in our hospital at 2425 Geary Blvd. will be permitted to have visitors without restriction. We may restrict or prohibit visitation on select inpatient units in the case of a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 outbreak in the facility or increased transmission rates. Per CDPH guidelines, when we restrict or prohibit visitation due to COVID-19 outbreak/increased transmission, we must continue to allow up to two visitors to the following special groups:
- Pediatric patients
- Labor and Delivery patients
- Patients at End-of-Life
- Surgery patients until taken to prep (visitors may wait in available waiting rooms or the cafeteria while the patient is being prepared for discharge if they can maintain physical distance from others and remain masked).
- Patients with physical, intellectual, cognitive impairments, and/or developmental disabilities
Medical Office Buildings and Clinics
Our medical offices and clinics now allow all patients to have companions or support persons without restriction.
Safety precautions for all facilities
