Getting Care Before, During or After Travel

Traveling can be full of surprises, and we want our members to be well for all of them. KP now offers away from home travel support at (951) 268-3900 or kp.org/travel. We can help members prepare for travel, fill an eligible prescription, learn how to find urgent or emergency care while traveling, and understand how to file a claim for reimbursement.

The Travel Support Line can be dialed from inside and outside the United States. Outside of the country, dial the U.S. country code 001 for land lines and +1 for mobile before the phone number. Long-distance charges may apply. The travel support line is closed on major holidays.

Free Take a Hike Program

Join park rangers and docents on a hike every month that combines exercise and information about park features and natural history. Dr. Eshwar Kapur from Kaiser Permanente will join many of the hikes to share tips on being active while avoiding injuries. Take A Hike is a member of the Healthy Parks, Healthy People Bay Area collaborative with sponsorship from Kaiser Permanente.

For the few parks that have a parking fee, just state that you are there for the Take a Hike program at the gate and your fee will be waived. Arrive at 9 am at the designated start location—look for the Take A Hike signs. After warm-up exercises, the hike begins.
Hikes are every month. The next date is April 2 in Coyote Point Recreation Area, San Mateo. For more detail, all the locations, all the dates and maps for each park, go to http://parks.smcgov.org/take-a-hike.
