Addiction Medicine Recovery Services Program Update

Please be advised as of 4/27/24 we will no longer provide holiday or weekend medical services at Sacramento Addiction Medicine and Recovery Services. This notification will hopefully mitigate any potential impact concerning the services you receive in our department.

Please note, that this change could impact our ability to assist patients who may experience a prescription medication disruption that falls on the weekend. Please be sure to request your refills ahead of their due date to avoid any disruption of refills that could occur if refills were requested after the close of business Friday.

If in crisis and in need of medical services, please seek assistance through the emergency department. We apologize for any inconvenience related to this change in weekend medical services.

Thank you,
Sacramento Area Addiction Medicine Recovery Services

We appreciate your interest in our Addiction Medicine Recovery Service (AMRS). We know that reaching out for help is not easy to do. We also want you to know that our staff will do everything we can, to help you be successful. For many of us who work here, this is more than a vocation. We understand, like few can, how deadly serious addiction is.

We are accepting of whatever reason brought you to our program. This is a place where you can be honest about your substance use and what you want to do about it. There are some who come here, who are not sure if they are finished with their alcohol or drug use. They may come here for reasons related to legal, occupational, or relationship pressure. Whatever the reason, many are able to make successful changes anyway. Thank you for your trust, and the willingness to begin this process.

Ours is a “walk-in” clinic. No referral or appointment is necessary to be seen initially.

  • To receive services, please arrive between 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday – Wednesday and Friday. Thursday hours are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

After checking in with the front desk, you will be seen by one of our “screening” counselors to determine the type of care you will need. Should this counselor determine there is a medical indication, you will be seen by one of our medical providers. Nearly all medical detoxification is done on an outpatient basis. After meeting with the screening counselor (and/or medical provider), and if appropriate, you will be scheduled for a treatment intake appointment to explore treatment options. We have every resource available to help you to be successful in this effort and our outpatient treatment program provides that support. Should the situation warrant, you can be scheduled to meet with the counselor at your next appointment.

Meeting with a substance abuse counselor is designed to explore and discuss the treatment options that address your present situation. The counselor will explain the different treatment programs that are offered, and make recommendations based on their assessment of your circumstances. These discussions may include issues such as medical leave from work and assistance with disability paperwork or suggestions about sober living environments, if necessary.

Initial adolescent evaluations are available by appointment only, except when immediate medical detox is indicated. For more information, please see our Services Available.
