What to Expect

Patients referred for a memory evaluation are first invited to attend an initial class session, during which normal age-related changes and causes of memory problems are discussed and family members are asked to complete a questionnaire about their loved ones’ memory loss symptoms.

Learn More About Memory Class

Patients referred for a memory evaluation are first invited to attend a  2-hour class and are encouraged to bring a family member/caregiver with them.  A family member or caregiver may attend alone if the patient has  significant hearing deficit or would be unable to sit through a 2-hour class or understand the information.

A diagnostic evaluation is scheduled following the class. During this appointment patients and caregivers will meet with the Memory Clinic team members. The visit will include a detailed history, memory assessment, physical examination, and discussion about any condition that is identified. If further tests are necessary, they will be scheduled and you will receive specific instructions.

The Memory Clinic team will then provide follow-up resources and evaluations tailored to you or your family member’s specific needs. Our providers work closely with your primary care provider to manage your health conditions.
