After-hours Care for Adults

The After Hours Care clinic is an appointment-only clinic for adults in the Department of Medicine after office hours (5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.) and on weekends.

Our clinic is staffed by physicians from our Medicine Department. Appointment and advice can be made by calling 650-742-2100.

What is an urgent symptom?

If you require prompt medical attention, usually within 24 to 48 hours, but is not an emergency medical condition, you can make a regular appointment during the day or request an after-hours or weekend appointment. Examples of urgent needs that can be treated after hours or on weekends:

  • sore throat, cough, and upper respiratory symptoms (please wear a mask)
  • earache
  • backache
  • frequent urination or burning sensation when urinating

If you have an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

The emergency department at South San Francisco Medical Center is open 24/7, including holidays, and is located at 1200 El Camino Real, South San Francisco, CA 94080.
