Geriatric Accreditation

The Emergency Department at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center is nationally accredited for providing high-level care for geriatric patients

The American College of Emergency Physicians awarded a 3-year accreditation for providing high-quality care to geriatric patients.

Emergency departments earning this level have elevated the level of care seniors receive by having geriatric specialists on staff, access to mobility aids for seniors and implementing other geriatric policies and procedures.

The Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Program was developed to ensure older patients receive well-coordinated, quality care at every emergency department encounter. With the world’s population aging and people living longer than ever before, more seniors are now visiting emergency departments at a higher rate than non-seniors.
