What is Palliative Care

Palliative care is specialized care for people living with serious illness at every stage of life.  It can be provided as the same time as other treatments.   It focuses on providing care to promote quality of life and relieve suffering.

At Kaiser Permanente, the core team members include a physician, nurse, social worker, and chaplain each with specialized training in the practice of palliative care.   The palliative care team works closely with you and your doctor to make sure your decisions are carried out.
