ABOUT US
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides Family Centered Care to newborn infants that need Intensive care. We have 26 beds and our patients include premature infants, infants needing surgery in the neonatal period, or any infant requiring close observation. The NICU staff is highly trained to work with infants and families (click on “Clinicians” in the menu at left to view individual neonatologists’ homepages). We strongly encourage parent participation as our main goal is to integrate a healthy baby into the family unit.
VISITING HOURS
Our visiting policy encourages frequent visits by the parents. The NICU is open to parents any time, day or night. There may be short periods of time during the day when visitors are not allowed, such as during report time and doctor rounds (to maintain confidentiality of our patients). Visiting is limited to two people at a time per family. One of the visitors must be banded. Siblings of the patient are the only children under age fourteen that are allowed to visit.
