Do you have a minor health condition? If it doesn’t require an in-person medical exam, you may be able to address it with a doctor by phone.


Some examples of conditions for a phone appointment:*

  • Allergies
  • Colds and coughs
  • Some follow-up visits
  • Upper respiratory infections


When you call us, we will:

  • Make sure you’re 18 or older
  • Confirm you’ve had at least 1 face-to-face visit with us
  • Schedule a 1-hour window for the doctor to call you


“Telephone appointments are one way we make our care more convenient for members,” says Ed Ellison, MD, Executive Medical Director of our Southern California Permanente Medical Group. “Often patients want to talk to their doctor when they’re sick, but prefer not to come in for a face-to-face visit. For the right conditions, a telephone appointment can help fill that gap in a convenient manner.”
