Save time — Chat with a doctor online in Colorado
These days, it seems that everyone has a busy schedule — and sick days can be hard to come by.
When you’re sick or dealing with a minor injury, it can be tough to make a trip to the doctor’s office. Sometimes you just need some quick medical advice, but can’t get away from work. Or maybe what you really need is to just stay in bed or apply some timely first aid.
The “Chat with a Doctor” feature on kp.org has you covered.
How it works
Chatting with a doctor is easier than you might think. If you’d like to take part in an online chat, follow these 2 simple steps:
- Sign onto kp.org.
- Click “Start a Chat Now.”
You’ll be directed to a chat window, where a Kaiser Permanente doctor will be ready to assist you. Since the provider will have access to your medical record, you’ll be able to discuss your health history and even upload photos. And your visit will be confidential — just as it would be in person.
The doctor will give you care advice if your condition is minor and easy to treat. But if you need to be seen in person, they’ll help you set up an appointment or find an urgent care location nearby.
Hours and types of care
This service is available at no charge to our members. And you can chat online from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
While family medicine and emergency care physicians manage most chats, ob-gyn and pediatrics providers are available during peak hours. Clinical pharmacists are also available to assist with prescription questions, and financial counselors (for your billing questions) will be added to the service in the near future.
What users are saying
Member feedback on this service has been very positive. Here’s what some patients said after their initial online chat with a doctor:
“I took the advice, avoided an office visit, and feel much better today.”
“Thank you for offering this service. As a busy mom, it was perfect, and I received all the advice/questions so I didn’t need to schedule an appointment. Thank you!”
We’re bringing care to you
“Chat is about meeting our members where they want to receive their care — whether that’s traveling in another country, at work while juggling multiple tasks, or at home sitting around their kitchen table,” says Sara Tracy, Director of Kaiser Permanente Colorado. “This program removes the barriers between a member and a provider and makes it easy to connect immediately to the care they want.”
“Chat with a Doctor” is just one of several ways you can take advantage of telehealth here in Colorado.1 You can also:
