Learn about Medicaid with Kaiser Permanente in Maryland
Ver en español
HealthChoice is the name of Maryland’s statewide managed care program for Medicaid. Kaiser Permanente participates in HealthChoice in many counties. This means that if you are a current Kaiser Permanente member and your situation changes, you may be able to keep your same doctor and continue your care with Kaiser Permanente if you qualify for Medicaid. Our Medicaid plan in Maryland is number one in the country1.
Care that puts you first
In our integrated health system—the leading system in the region1—we deliver award-winning care the way you need it. Email a specialist. Get test results online. Have a video visit with your doctor.2 All from your mobile phone, on your lunch break or at home. We help to make being healthy easier, so you have less to worry about.
Call for 24/7 care advice from our registered nurses, make phone appointments with your physician, or receive text alerts for appointment and medication reminders.
Use our apps to get certain lab results, schedule appointments, and order your prescriptions online3 for home delivery—often within 48 hours.
Have a $0 video visit2 with your personal physician, your child’s pediatrician, a behavioral health clinician, or emergency medicine doctor by phone, computer, or tablet.
Make same- or next-day appointments at any of our medical facilities, most offering primary care, lab, X-ray, and pharmacy together under one roof,4 so you get more done in one trip.
Kaiser Permanente treats every patient as an individual with specific needs. Our integrated system of care adapts to you, supporting you along your health journey in the way that fits you best.
When you come see our doctors, you don’t fill out forms. Each appointment is tracked in your electronic medical record to keep our care team up to date on you. Once the visit is over, you can pick up your prescription before leaving our facility. And then order refills on the KP app for delivery to your home.
You can do this because our physicians, pharmacy, labs, X-ray, health plan, facilities—it’s all one system. All working together to make better health as simple as possible.
When it’s time to make a care decision, you’re not alone. Our award-winning doctors,1 specialists, and pharmacies are all connected to you—and each other—through the electronic medical record. They know your overall health picture. Pre-existing conditions. Medications. Diet.
So, whether you’re seeing your doctor at one of our facilities or a specialist by video visit on your phone,2 they all have your latest info and are consulting with each other to produce the best health results.
When you need to get care, how is up to you. Email a specialist. Call our 24/7 nurse line for advice. See your doctor by video.2 Check test results online. In our integrated system, you choose the delivery method.
These are all core system components, not add-ons, so quality is built into every experience. And unlike many providers, we don’t outsource these services to providers who don’t know our patients’ medical histories. So, whether it’s online, by phone, via video, or in person, our caregivers all share the same information, so they can resolve issues more efficiently to get you healthier faster.
Hundreds of Permanente physicians are recognized annually as Top Doctors1 by magazines across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia.
