Our San Diego orthopedics team is made up of 35 orthopedic surgeons and 27 physician assistants, as well as orthopedic technicians, medical assistants, and nurses. We provide care in a variety of specialty areas, including:

For your convenience, we have orthopedics departments at our Zion Medical Center as well as at our Garfield Specialty Center and the Otay Mesa, San Marcos, and El Cajon Medical Offices. We perform inpatient and outpatient surgeries at Various locations.

Musculoskeletal Trauma

Our San Diego trauma team offers trauma care at our San Marcos, El Cajon and Otay Mesa medical offices, and the the Garfield Specialty Center, in addition to at our Zion Medical Center. Surgeries are performed at our Zion Medical Center, San Marcos, Garfield, and Otay Mesa. The team is led by 2 fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma specialists along with 7 other surgeons bringing particular expertise for specific areas of the body. The trauma team treats traumatic injuries including broken bones, tendons, and ligaments in both outpatient and inpatient settings. They work together with internal medicine doctors to provide quality, timely, and compassionate care to our members.

Sports Medicine

Our San Diego orthopedic surgery sports medicine team is located at our Zion Medical Center, the Garfield Specialty Center, and the Otay Mesa, San Marcos, and El Cajon Medical Offices. The Orthopedic Sports Surgery group is made up of eight sports medicine trained orthopedic surgeons skilled in deal with a wide variety of athletic injuries. Patients who sustain acute sports-type injuries that may require urgent surgical treatment and who are seen in KP urgent care clinics, KP emergency room departments, and via KP Primary Care Providers are referred to these surgeons via regular acute sports injury clinics located in both North and South/Central San Diego County.

Joint replacement

Our lower extremity reconstruction team consists of ten fellowship-trained and board-certified surgeons located at various locations, including Zion Medical Center, Garfield Specialty Center, Otay Mesa, San Marcos, and El Cajon Medical Offices. Our team represents a wealth of experience, performing over 2,500 joint replacement surgeries every year. Our surgeons are invested in their patient’s quick recovery with a dedicated program to same-day recovery after total knee and total hip replacement. They are recognized by US News and World Report as high performing in knee replacement and by Healthgrades as one of the Top 100 hospitals for joint replacement. Our Multidisciplinary team will take you through the process with expertise and care.

Shoulder reconstruction

Our San Diego shoulder team provides care at our Garfield Specialty Center and San Marcos office locations. Led by 3 fellowship-trained shoulder surgeons from diverse training backgrounds (Washington University, Mayo Clinic, and Harvard), we offer the full spectrum of shoulder care including shoulder arthroscopy, shoulder replacement, trauma, and reconstructive surgeries. Combining physical therapy, pain management, and sports medicine, we provide coordinated high-quality care to our members.

Hand & upper extremity surgery

Our San Diego hand surgery team is a group of 8 surgeons who specialize in upper extremity conditions including arthritis, traumatic injuries, congenital problems, tendonitis, and nerve conditions. Each of our hand surgeons has trained at internationally renowned institutions and is board certified. Several of our surgeons are engaged in cutting-edge research. For many of the common conditions including carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger fingers, care can be provided using Wide-Awake techniques in our Clinic Procedure Room. Our goal is to provide quality, compassionate care and restore function and range of motion to the best of our abilities. We work closely with our Occupational Therapy colleagues to deliver coordinated care with the patient always at the center of our work.

Foot & ankle surgery

Our San Diego foot and ankle surgery team is led by two highly experienced, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeons. They specialize in sports injuries, fractures, Achilles tendon surgery, tendon transfers, complex reconstructive surgery, and are industry leaders in total ankle arthroplasty.

Pediatric orthopedics

Pediatric orthopedics is a subspecialty of orthopedics that cares for children with different types of bone and joint disorders. The team is led by two fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeons. They specialize in the management of conditions like clubfoot, scoliosis, congenital hip dysplasia, cerebral palsy, broken bones, joint dislocations, leg length discrepancy, intoeing, bowlegs, pediatric sports injuries, and benign bone tumors. They use various treatment methods, including casting, bracing, therapy, and surgery.
