Our Genetic Counselors

Blaire Brown Gonzalez, MS, LCGC

My Background

I spent my entire life on the East Coast, mainly in Northern Virginia, until 2004 when I accepted a job at Kaiser Permanente and moved to sunny Los Angeles.

Education & Experience

I knew for quite a long time that I had a passion for the field of genetics, but I didn’t know what to do with the passion until I discovered genetic counseling. I learned of the profession while completing my undergraduate degree in biology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  I then went on to obtain my master’s degree in genetic counseling at Howard University in Washington, DC.

About My Practice

It has been a privilege to work at Kaiser Permanente. I enjoy the diverse population of members and appreciate the close relationships that we have with departments outside of genetics. It has also allowed me to explore different specialties within the field of genetics. During my 12-year career, I have taken a special interest in cancer genetics, prenatal genetics and most recently, renal genetics. I also helped create our telemedicine program which allows us to serve many members who live in more remote areas.

I am a board certified genetic counselor and am licensed by the State of California.

How I Thrive

Outside of work I enjoy hiking, running, traveling and spending time with my husband, son and dog.
