Blood Sugar in Pregnancy Class
The High Blood Sugars During Pregnancy Class is appropriate for patients diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes or Glucose Intolerance during pregnancy. During the 1st hour of the class, members will receive nutrition education from a Registered Dietitian (RD) on how to control blood sugars during pregnancy. A detailed meal plan will be provided. During the 2nd hour of the class, members will be taught by a Clinical Health Educator (CHE) on how to use a glucometer. Only patients prescribed a glucometer are required to stay for the second portion of the class. All members who will be monitoring blood sugars at home will be set up with the Regional Perinatal Center for a weekly call.
Patients will be directly referred by the Regional Perinatal Center or by O.B.
