Find a Physician

Thank you for visiting the Hospital Based Services (HBS) webpage for South Sacramento Medical Center.

The HBS department consists of internal medicine-trained physicians who take care of adults over the age of 18. We specialize in caring for medical problems that require a stay in the hospital, so we are also called hospitalists. Frequently, we are asked to help figure out what can be safely treated outside the hospital versus what needs to be treated within the hospital. In addition, we assist our colleagues in other departments with complex medical problems that may be new or preexisting. In the event that you need immediate attention for serious or life-threatening situations, our staff are present at all times.

Aside from the other doctors who may be involved in your care, we closely work with your nurses and Patient Care Coordinators. Both of these groups help deliver and coordinate the treatment you need.

Our main goals during your hospital stay are to quickly find out what is wrong, treat your condition effectively, let you go home when it is safe, and involve you in staying healthy. While we hope you do not require our services, we strive to make your experience as seamless as possible.

Visiting a Patient

Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento has established daily visiting hours and rules to ensure the comfort and safety of your friend and loved one, as well as for other patients in the medical center. The staff welcomes visitors because they play a very important role in a patients’ recovery. We ask that all visitors adhere to the visiting policy so that we can continue to provide an environment that contributes to a speedy recovery for your loved one or friend. Patients can designate visitors of their choosing, whether or not the visitor is related by blood or marriage. Visitation will not be prohibited or restricted solely based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

When you arrive at our facility to visit your loved one or friend, please stop by the Information Desk located at the main hospital entrance on the first floor. Our volunteers will gladly assist you.
