Medical/Surgical Nursing

Medical/surgical nurses care for a wide variety of medical and surgical patients. Many patients are admitted directly from the emergency department or the preoperative area. Caring and compassion with clinical competence define these nurses.

To be a medical/surgical nurse requires learning about the full range of human illness including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory ailments, renal failure, immunologic problems and infectious diseases.

Some medical/surgical nurses have obtained a ‘Progressive Care Certification’ with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses
(AACN).

If you have questions about nurses in medical/surgery, you can call our department manager.
