Sleep Medicine MSLT and MWT

The Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) and the Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) are two laboratory-based objective measures of sleepiness. The MSLT is intended to measure physiological sleep tendencies under standardized conditions in the absence of external alerting factors. The MWT measures the ability to stay awake for a defined period of time. Following your overnight polysomnogram, you may be scheduled to remain the next day in the sleep laboratory to undergo either an MSLT or MWT.
