The Department of Perioperative Medicine (POM) is responsible for the evaluation and preparation of all patients scheduled for surgery at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Hospital Main Operating Room and Ambulatory Surgery Unit.

Once your surgery date has been scheduled,  a member of your Care Team from the Perioperative Medicine (POM) Clinic will call you to schedule your appointment with the POM Clinic. Depending on the complexity of your procedure and your medical conditions, you may be scheduled for a formal office visit or an evaluation by telephone. Your surgeon and the Perioperative Medicine (POM) Clinic will help decide which is best for you.
