Pediatric Centering

Redwood City Pediatrics is excited to be the first Kaiser Permanente in Northern California to offer Pediatric Centering.  This is a unique method of family-centered well care for children from birth to 2 years of age.  In this model of care, a group of up to 8 parents and their infants meet 7 times with the same pediatrician and a health educator during the first 2 years of their child’s life. Pediatric Centering families meet in a group setting, while also meeting one-on-one with their pediatrician and receiving age-appropriate vaccines.

In Pediatric Centering, you will:

  • Learn more about infant feeding, developmental milestones, and safety
  • Be offered extra breastfeeding support
  • Spend personalized time with your pediatrician
  • Receive support from other new parents whose infants are the same age as yours

To adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols, we bring groups together for a 1-hour Zoom session, providing ample time to ask questions, learn more about infant development, and form lasting friendships with other parents in the group.  Following the virtual session, each family will be scheduled an individual clinic appointment with their physician for an exam and immunizations.
