Meet Our Pediatrics Residents

Matthew Cranshaw
Matthew Cranshaw, MD
I chose pediatrics because I find working with children extremely energizing and rewarding. Kids have a seemingly inexhaustible stores of excitement and playfulness that suits my personality well. I enjoy building relationships with families as their children go through the typical growth and development of childhood, and also find it very meaningful to help children and their families when they are sick.

My passion for becoming a pediatrician got stronger while doing maternal health research in Malawi, where I learned about the importance of prevention. I worked with women who had advanced cervical cancer and realized our unique opportunity for using vaccines to prevent cancer. While in medical school I got involved with research around pediatric firearm safety, another great opportunity for preventing harm. My other interests include adverse childhood experiences, adolescent care, infectious diseases and clinical research.

As a pediatrician I love most the opportunity to be a vital part of a child’s overall wellness and a partner to parents through the most challenging and exciting times of their lives. I feel the “built-in” support team that a child has in their family is an invaluable and unique aspect of pediatrics that makes being a pediatrician special. I have a special interest in health equity and serving populations who have historically struggled within the health care system.

I decided to be a pediatrician because I love working with and motivating children and their families to lead healthy lifestyles. I am dedicated to advancing patient care through a holistic approach and enjoy building long-lasting, trusting relationships with my patients. I chose Kaiser Permanente for my residency because of its leadership in integrated and innovative health systems and its focus on preventative medicine.

In my clinical practice, I enjoy partnering with children and their caregivers to make plans for their wellbeing. Within pediatrics, I am particularly interested in primary care, education, advocacy, adolescent wellness and LGBTQI+ health.

Within pediatrics, I am interested in advocacy to benefit the health of children in our communities especially in areas such as immigrant, LGBTQ rights, and much more. I speak Spanish and Kannada.

I love being a pediatrician because it is my delight to help children grow and develop to be the healthiest they can be while building long-term relationships with them and their families. I am passionate about advocating for my patients both inside and outside the clinic. My goal is to provide evidence-based medical care that is sensitive to culture, socioeconomic status, and sexual identity. After residency, I will be pursuing a career in primary care both domestically and internationally.

Xing Wang
Xing Wang, MD
I have always loved working with children, and chose pediatrics because I can impact a child’s health in the formative years they grow and develop. I enjoy building trusting, long term relationships with my patients and their families. Nothing brightens my day more than a hug or smile from a patient as they walk in. My goal is to work with families and all members of the medical team to provide excellent and holistic care. In addition to English, I am conversational in Mandarin Chinese.
