Take responsibility for your health and well-being by knowing your HIV status. You can self-refer for an HIV test at any of our Kaiser Permanente laboratory locations in Northern California. It is recommended that all adults know their HIV status, so we’ve made it convenient and easy to get an HIV test. Kaiser Permanente members may drop in to any of our labs and request an HIV test. The lab receptionist will tell you how to get the results or your test, as this may vary by location. Lab fee cot share applies. All Kaiser Permanente members over 12 years of age are able to consent for an HIV test without a doctor’s order. You may also request an HIV test through your doctor.
If you have questions about HIV, HIV testing or HIV prevention you may talk with your doctor or call our HIV health educator at 510-752-6848. The health educator can answer your questions about HIV and other STDs, discuss how to reduce your risk of infection, and help you determine the need for follow-up testing.
