HIV Care & Prevention Services

HIV Care & Prevention Services is a multidisciplinary clinic that provides ongoing specialized and primary care to Kaiser Permanente members living with HIV. Our doctors are specialists in HIV and general medicine. Our services include a comprehensive PrEP program for HIV prevention. The interdisciplinary team includes physicians, nurse case managers, medical social workers, a dietitian, a pharmacist, health educators, a nurse practitioner, and behavioral health consultants.

HIV Testing

You can self-refer for an HIV test at any of our Kaiser Permanente laboratory locations in Northern California. It is recommended that all adults get an HIV test at least once as part of routine health care, so we ve made it convenient and easy to get tested. Kaiser Permanente members may drop in to any of our labs and request an HIV test.

The lab receptionist will tell you how to get the results or your test as this may vary by location. HIV testing is free and confidential. All Kaiser Permanente members over 12 years of age can consent to an HIV test without a doctor s order. You may also request an HIV test through your doctor.

If you have questions about HIV, HIV testing or HIV prevention, including PrEP, you may talk with your doctor or call our HIV health educator at 510-752-6848. The health educator can answer your questions about HIV and other STIs, discuss how to reduce your risk of infection, and connect you to our PrEP program (see the orange box on the right).
