Culturally Specific COVID-19 Resources Available
To help address COVID-19 prevention in a culturally specific way, Kaiser Permanente has created toolkits for both the African-American and Latinx communities.
The tools include Q&A videos with doctors answering questions about COVID-19 myths and facts, fliers, and a short “graphic novel” that addresses some of the main concerns each community has with regards to COVID-19.
“Because COVID-19 disproportionally affects these populations more than others, we wanted to speak in a culturally sensitive way, to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus in these segments of our communities,” said Dr. Steven Millar, Assistant Physician-in-Chief for Health Promotion in Kaiser Permanente’s Central Valley Service Area that comprises both Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties.
In addition to the toolkits, COVID-19 prevention materials are available in multiple languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog. Russian, and others.
