What are the Operating Hours of the Sleep Lab at South Sacramento Kaiser Permanente?

The Sleep Lab at South Sacramento Kaiser Permanente is open Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00pm. The Sleep Lab is closed on most major holidays. Appointments are strongly recommended.

Do I Have a Co-payment for the Services that are Provided to Me at the Sleep Lab?

Depending on the services rendered at the visit, you may have an additional cost share.  Please consult member services for more information.

Who do I contact if I need refills of CPAP/BiPAP supplies?

You can call the Sleep Lab at (916) 688-6671 if you are not sure. Apria Healthcare is the durable medical equipment supplier for Kaiser Permanente patients. You may also contact Apria Healthcare directly at (800)731-3408 if you have an active prescription to order the replacement mask, filters, and tubing. Click here for more information regarding DME (Durable Medical Equipment).

My CPAP/BiPAP Machine is Not Working. What Should I do?

Regular maintenance (i.e. cleaning, changing air filters) should keep your CPAP in excellent operational condition. But if your machine should begin to malfunction, please contact the Sleep Lab to have the machine evaluated.

I No Longer Sleep as well as I Did when I First Started Using CPAP/BiPAP. Why is this Happening?

While there may be many reasons why you may not be sleeping as well as when you first began using your CPAP/BiPAP, one of the most common reasons may be related to weight changes. Weight gain typically lead to worsening in your sleep apnea and hence may necessitate adjustments in your CPAP/BiPAP pressures. Ill fitting masks or malfunctioning equipment may also contribute.

Can I Hold on to the Rental Equipment Longer than What is Written on the Rental Agreement?

Rental/loaner equipment from the Sleep Lab must be returned to the Sleep Lab on the agreed upon date as stated on the rental agreement. This is critical as the equipment is needed for other members. Unless you have had made prior arrangement to extend the loan period from the Sleep Lab, it is imperative that you return the equipment to the Sleep Lab.

What is Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

Here is more information about obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

I am Having Problems with My CPAP Mask. What Can I Do?

Sometimes, simply ordering a new mask (see section above on Who do I contact if I need new CPAP/BiPAP supplies?) will correct an old worn out mask that no longer provides the seal that it used to. However, if your CPAP mask is no longer fitting correctly, you can call the Sleep Lab to determine if a refitting is needed or if a different mask might provide a better fit.

How Much Sleep Do I Really Need?

While this may vary from individual to individual, an average adult needs somewhere between 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night.
