If you’re having trouble hearing, you’re not alone. Millions of Americans of all ages have hearing loss. As a Kaiser Permanente member, you can have your hearing checked by one of our licensed audiologists.

Healthy Hearing Test

If you answer “Yes” to any of these questions, we encourage you to have your hearing checked:

  • Do people seem to mumble when they speak?
  • Do people complain that your TV is too loud?
  • Do you have trouble hearing conversations in noisy places, like restaurants or at parties?
  • Do you have trouble hearing the phone?

Today, hearing aids are more technologically advanced than ever before. They are comfortable, easy to use, and come in a variety of styles and sizes. We offer digital and analog devices from a number of manufacturers. Kaiser Permanente audiologists don’t receive special compensation based on the hearing aids they prescribe, so you can rest assured that you’re getting the hearing aid that suits you best.

If You Have a Hearing Exam and Are Diagnosed With Hearing Loss, We’ll:

  • help you decide which hearing aid is best for you, based on your needs and lifestyle,
  • make sure that your hearing aid fits properly,
  • show you how to use and care for your hearing aid, and
  • monitor your progress through follow-up appointments.

You can purchase hearing aids and accessories even if your health care coverage doesn’t have hearing aid benefits, or even if you’re not a Kaiser Permanente member.* Every hearing aid comes with a three-year manufacturer’s warranty. And if you’re not satisfied with your hearing aid during the 30-day trial, you can get a full refund.

The hearing aid products described here are neither offered nor guaranteed under our contract with the Medicare Program. In addition, they are not subject to the Medicare appeals process. Any disputes regarding these products may be subject to the Kaiser Permanente grievance process.

*Kaiser Permanente members have coverage for medically necessary hearing tests, and some may have coverage for hearing aids. Otherwise, the services described here are provided on a fee-for-service basis, separate from and not covered under your health plan benefits, and you are financially responsible to pay for them. Clinical services are provided by providers or contractors of The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. Results of services vary among patients and cannot be guaranteed. Foundation Hospitals may receive compensation for providing facilities and/or other support in connection with these services. For specific information about your health plan benefits, please see your Evidence of Coverage.
