Teen Resources in Times of Crisis

Whether you are in an abusive situation, dealing with a rape, pregnant, depressed, questioning your sexuality, wondering if you have contracted a sexually transmitted disease, or searching for a safe haven, there are community resources to help you. Click on the first link for a list of free telephone help lines. The second link will give you a list of organizations and services in the Bay Area that exist to serve you.

Free Telephone Help Lines

First Call For Help: 1-800-464-3575. Information and referrals for services within Napa & Solano Counties.
Abuse Line: 1-800-4-A-CHILD or 1-800-422-4453. For help if you or a friend is being physically or sexually abused.
AIDS Hotline: 1-800-FOR-AIDS or 1-800-367-2437. Daily until 9 p.m. Sunday until 6 p.m.
Emergency Contraception Hotline: 1-800-NOT2LATE
Pregnant, Battered Teens Line: 1-800-693-2247.
Runaway Switchboard: 1-800-621-4000. Crisis counseling and help finding local services and finding a shelter, HIV or pregnancy testing, et cetera. 24 hours a day.
Sexual Health: 1-800-942-1054. For help in finding a clinic that will provide low cost, confidential services, such as birth control, pregnancy testing, or HIV/STD testing.
Sexual Orientation: 1-800-246-7743. To talk confidentially about homosexuality, bisexuality, or gender identity. In Spanish or English.
STD Hotline: 1-800-227-8922. Help finding a free or low cost clinic or getting confidential information about sexually transmitted diseases. 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Youth Crisis Hotline: 1-800-843-5200. Call in a crisis or emergency if you need someone to talk to. Staff is especially trained to help you if you or someone you know is feeling suicidal.

If you ARE a Kaiser Member:

  • Teen Clinic:707-651-1037 to make an appointment for general medical and confidential services including birth control and STD checks.
  • Gynecology Clinic: 707-651-1021 to make an appointment for birth control, pregnancy testing, or STD check. For female teens 18 and older.
  • Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP): 707-651-2916 for a perinatal care appointment.
  • Teen Prenatal Program: 707-651-3354. Support group meets on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Teen Drug and Alcohol Program (CDS): 707-651-1050 for support groups and counseling. Vacaville, 707-453-5255.
  • Anger Management Program: 707-651-2312.
  • Social Services: 707-651-3388 for brief counseling appointments, pregnancy counseling, and information on community resources.
  • Eye Clinic: 707-651-1085 to make an appointment to have your eyes checked or if you think you need glasses.
  • Health Education: 707-651-2692 for books, pamphlets, videos, and other information on most health issues.
  • Teen Education Center located in Teen clinic.

The following places provide two kinds of services which are free or based on your ability to pay: general medical services (for which you will need a parent/guardian to accompany you to your appointments if you are under 18) and confidential services (pregnancy testing, STD services, birth control, and abortion information). You do NOT need a parent/guardian to receive confidential services.

Local Services

Abuse: If you or a friend is being abused or neglected and needs shelter, call Child Protective Services 1-800-544-8696, twenty-four hours a day. If you are calling from West Contra Costa County you can also dial 510-374-3324 during business hours. Callers from Napa County should try 707-253-4261 during business hours.
